The Microbook

(Hover over the images to see them move!)

To make a dream a reality, it must be written down.

Writing on paper pulls ideas out of imagination and into the physical world. When you put a dream on paper, you set a starting point for your path, and movement begins as you discover the first step. Each task you complete serves as a stepping stone, paving a way towards your goal.

Writing pulls you forward

When you feel stuck, putting thoughts on paper can bring clarity, direction, and creativity to any situation. With pen and paper, you have complete control over your notes, and you’ll improve your skills with practice. Forming ideas into words and sketches will allow you to study your own perspective and share it with others.

I wanted to make a notebook that gives you this ability at any moment, and I believe the Microbook succeeds in this and will help you follow your path.

Pen & Paper, United

Like flint and steel, pen and paper allow you to spark ideas at any moment. Microbooks are equipped with a pen sling that holds any pen to the book!

Stay-Flat Design

The separation between paper and cover allows the microbook to lay flat while the friction bands prevent the book from closing. This way, the book doesn't shut while you write, and you can read your notes without holding it down.

Refillable Paper

Microbooks never have to be thrown away. You can renew your microbook with fresh paper every time it gets full. You can even choose a different page pattern with each refill.

Angled Pockets

This unique design makes it easy to slide a paper corner into the pocket. Hold business cards, spare change, and even rip out pages to keep for later!

Quick Backstory

Last year, I studied abroad in madrid for a short semester.

I was looking forward to learning the culture and exploring the city, but I quickly became frustrated as hours of my time were spent commuting to class instead. After a few weeks, however, I realized this situation was actually an opportunity I could take advantage of. Every 45-minute commute led me down a new train of thought I could use to reach my goals. Ideas about how to spend the weekend, places to visit, assignments to finish, and even plans to create a business all crossed my mind as I sat in silence. But as soon as I stepped off the subway, those thoughts vanished.

I wanted to plan out a fantastic semester abroad, so I needed ideas. But even with a 2-hour forced brainstorm session each day, I didn’t get anywhere. I just couldn’t remember anything long enough to take action, so every day ended the same as it began.

Rather than rely on my brain, I designed a tool I called the Microbook to catch and hold my thoughts the moment they arrived. With pen and paper in my pocket, I filled page after page with new ideas and put them to use, and over the following 10 months I was able to reach my goals of exploring Madrid and launching a business.

The Microbook is more than just a notebook, it’s a tool of inspiration. Months of designing and testing prototypes has led to a final product unlike anything you’ve ever seen. This version of the Microbook has pockets, replaceable paper, a solid pen holder, a unique look, and it’s even smaller than a phone. But I think the best part is that every person can customize the book to their own style. Colors. Paper. Layout. Pen. Everything is up to you.
